Community Publishing
We have been involved in community publishing projects including anthologies of writing, interview-based archival work, zine-making, and collaborative resource building that you can find out more about here. This is an area we are excited to expand with your organization or advocacy group! All publications available in the mobile library.
Food Havens
April 2023 - Current
Food Havens is a community archive of people's experiences of food insecurity, the food justice movement, and food systems in SE Connecticut. Each story in the anthology was sourced from a spoken interview with community members at local justice-driven events and gatherings or with individuals referred to us by partner orgs. We then transcribed and edited interviews in conversational language.
Originally created as part of a fellowship with the Radical Librarianship Institute out of UCLA's California Rare Book School, the publication has taken a life beyond its grant cycle. As of January 2025, we have completed a shortened version of the publication and will be producing a self-published book featuring all 25+ stories with full community input in the coming year.
